Scientists have found out which products will help you fall asleep easily
Good sleep is important for health, as it reduces the risk of developing chronic diseases, preserves brain health and strengthens immunity. Doctors recommend 7-9 hours of continuous sleep every night. There are many strategies used to get a good night's sleep, including changing your diet, eating certain foods and drinks.
Turkey dishes are rich in protein, vitamins and minerals like riboflavin, phosphorus and selenium. Turkey also contains the amino acid tryptophan, which increases the production of melatonin. In addition, protein can increase fatigue. Studies have shown that consuming a moderate amount of protein before bed is associated with better sleep quality and fewer awakenings during the night.
Chamomile tea is good for health and sleep. It contains apigenin, an antioxidant that binds to certain receptors in the brain that promote sleepiness and reduce insomnia. A study involving 34 people found that those who took 270 mg of chamomile extract twice a day for 28 days fell asleep a quarter of an hour faster and woke up less during the night compared to those who did not take the extract. Those who drank chamomile tea also had fewer symptoms of depression, which is commonly associated with sleep problems.
Kiwifruit may benefit the digestive system, lower cholesterol, and make it easier to fall asleep. In a 4-week study, 24 people consumed two kiwis an hour before bedtime. Participants fell asleep 42% faster than when they didn't eat anything before bed. In addition, their ability to sleep through the night without waking up improved by 5% and their total sleep time increased by 13%.
