Scientists have found that smoking dulls

A group of researchers from Ohio State University published the results of a study that showed that smokers experience a decline in cognitive functions more often than non-smokers. This is manifested in memory loss and confusion.
They came to this conclusion based on a study of data from 136,000 people aged 45 and older. All of them had smoked for a “fairly long time,” and they had either “quit smoking recently” or “still smoked.” Interestingly, the strongest link was seen in the 45-59 age group. According to scientists, quitting smoking at this stage of life can protect not only against cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, but also promote mental health. At the same time, experts did not find anything similar in the case of the oldest group. This, experts believe, suggests that only early quitting can bring the greatest benefit.
