“Sleep is considered healthy if five conditions are met – this is an early chronotype (early falling asleep and waking up), sleep for 7-8 hours a day, absence of snoring , insomnia, as well as increased sleepiness during the day,” the researchers clarified.
They analyzed the data of more than 400,000 people aged 37 to 73 years, collected over a ten-year observation period. During this time, heart failure developed in 5,221 people.
Analysis of the data showed that those people whose sleep met the greatest number of conditions had the lowest risk of heart failure, regardless of the presence of diabetes, hypertension, or medication.
“Early chronotype can reduce the probability of heart failure by 8%. 7-8 hours of sleep – by 12%. Absence of frequent insomnia – by 17%, and daytime sleepiness – by 34%,” the authors of the project determined.
