Scientists have identified an early warning symptom of Alzheimer's disease

A very early symptom that warns of Alzheimer's disease, which manifests itself years before the diagnosis, is the behavior of a person in his sleep. This was determined by neuroscientists from the University of California (USA).

“In order to take therapeutic measures at an early stage, it is important to recognize the first signs of a neurodegenerative brain disease. One of the warning signs is sleep,” scientists report.

According to them, Alzheimer's disease is usually diagnosed when its symptoms are already clearly expressed. However, the brain can send subtle signals about its malfunction long before that.

Scientists have determined that a very early sign of a brain disease can be a behavior disorder during REM sleep, which is expressed in active movements: a person can swing his arms, push himself , pushed.

Experts explain that the body of a person who is in this phase of sleep always reacts to dreams: the pulse may increase, blood pressure becomes higher, eyes move quickly under closed eyelids. However, the muscles remain lethargic, relaxed, and the body of the sleeper is motionless.

In the event of a disturbance, it begins to move abnormally. This feature may be a harbinger of future brain diseases, including Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and dementia, Canadian researchers concluded.

It is noteworthy that another study conducted by scientists at Boston University also pointed to the connection between REM sleep and Alzheimer's disease: they found that the risk of this disease increases if REM sleep phases are shortened. Experts still cannot explain why this is so.
