Scientists have named a dose of caffeine that is dangerous for health

It is estimated that people around the world drink about three billion cups of coffee a day. Many people need caffeine to start their day without sleep. But the effect is not always positive – caffeine above a certain amount can even cause harm.

This is what researchers from the University of South Australia found.

They studied the data of 350,000 people aged 37 and over. up to 73 years old. According to scientists, too much caffeine can lead to an increase in blood pressure. It is considered one of the most important risk factors for cardiovascular disease.

Risk: More than six cups of coffee

They found that anyone who drank more six cups of coffee a day increases the risk of heart disease by 22 percent. This was the first time that scientists set an upper limit for coffee consumption in relation to cardiovascular health. The researchers published their findings in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Elina Hippenen, director of the Australian Center for Precision Health at the University Cancer Research Center, explains:
“To support heart and blood pressure at a healthy level, people should limit their coffee consumption to less than six cups a day.”

Higher intakes also have harmful effects on people who absorb caffeine more quickly due to genetic factors.
