Scientists tested mistletoe extract and found that it can be effective in cancer.
In particular, the authors of a new scientific article studied how injections of white mistletoe extract affect the condition of patients with cancer. The drug was administered to 21 people with a stable form of cancer or at a late stage.
After 15 weeks of treatment, it turned out that in five patients the disease had stabilized and did not progress. In three people, the tumors even decreased in size. Scientists now need to conduct additional studies.
“When administered intravenously, mistletoe showed an acceptable level of toxicity while controlling the course of the disease, as well as improving the quality of life of this group of patients who are simultaneously being treated with many other anticancer agents,” the authors added.
