Inflammatory skin diseases can be provoked by diet . Scientists from the University of California came to this conclusion. They presented new research showing that a diet high in sugar and fat leads to an imbalance in the gut microbiome.
This may contribute to inflammatory skin conditions such as psoriasis. Scientists believe that making adjustments to the diet can help.
Researchers conducted an experiment on mice fed a traditional Western diet. Six weeks later, psoriasis was induced in them. After that, the animals were divided into two groups. The first one continued to eat according to the previous scheme, and for the second one, the diet was changed to a more balanced one for four weeks.
Scientists found that reducing sugar and fat in the diet helped reduce skin peeling in animals and relieve inflammation. This confirms that the Western diet has a short-term effect on skin inflammation.
