This took into account many indicators: age, gender, blood group, body mass index, presence of bad habits, level of physical activity, history.
Comorbidity was also taken into account – the presence of two or more diseases in one patient at the same time, connected by a single pathogenetic mechanism.
In the course of one of the studies among 26 thousand people aged 50 years and older, it was found that people with high levels of vitamin D were more likely to die from any medical cause 57% lower than those who had low levels of this vitamin.
Scientists also found that vitamin D deficiency is associated with an increased risk of stroke.
