Even if a person is not sick, after 40 years they have an average of five health problems that simply have not manifested themselves fully, a new study has shown.
Australian scientists from Flinders University decided to find out how vulnerable the age after 40 is in terms of health. As part of their investigation, they conducted a thorough medical examination of 561 people aged 40 to 75, all of whom had no complaints about their well-being, were outwardly healthy and active. The report on their work was published in the journal BMC Geriatrics.
The researchers were interested in the quality of hearing and memory in the subjects, as well as the condition of their nervous, respiratory and cardiovascular systems. As a result of the examinations, the scientists concluded that “each participant had an average of five health problems that had not yet fully developed.
