Scientists have named the optimal amount of sleep that is necessary to improve well-being

There has been debate over the years about what constitutes the right amount of sleep. Some suggest it's eight hours, while others have it as low as four. One study suggests that the optimal amount is seven hours. To confirm this result, they used data from the British Biobank.
It concluded that seven hours of sleep is the ideal amount for good mental health, well-being and cognitive ability in people between the ages of 30 and 70.
The researchers wrote:
“We found a non-linear relationship between sleep (approximately seven hours as optimal sleep duration) and genetic and cognitive factors, brain structure and mental health as key indicators. Longitudinal analysis showed that both insufficient and excessive sleep duration were significantly associated with cognitive decline at follow-up.”
As in other studies, the researchers found that too little sleep caused problems in humans, as is too much sleep. Although there is little research on the negative effects of too much sleep, the researchers said that “our analysis, in which we studied people over a long period of time, supports this idea.”
They also found that people the elderly, as a rule, suffer from poor sleep quality. Analysis showed that this was related to the genetic makeup of the human body and the structure of the human brain. Although the research is thorough, there were a few caveats.
