A new study suggests that gardening can be a healthy way to start the new year.
A randomized controlled trial found that those who started gardening ate more fiber and exercised more, which helped reduce their risk of cancer and chronic disease . In addition, stress and anxiety levels also decreased.
In particular, people who gardened ate an average of 1.4 grams of fiber per day more than participants in the control group. Doctors recommend consuming 25 to 38 g of fiber per day.
