Scientists have refuted the benefits of moderate alcohol consumption

You can often hear the opinion that drinking alcohol in small quantities is not only does not harm the body, but even has a positive effect. Recent studies by scientists say that the benefits of moderate alcohol consumption are a myth.
German scientists from Greifswald University in Germany analyzed the data of 4,028 adult citizens of the country.
In 1996-1997, respondents aged 18-64 filled out questionnaires about their health, and also indicated the frequency of alcohol consumption and the presence of other harmful habits. As a result of a 20-year follow-up, scientists were able to obtain some data on mortality.
According to the leader of the study Ulrich John from the Medical School of the University of Greifswald, the opinion about the benefits of small doses of alcohol was based on the fact that non-drinkers supposedly die earlier than people who drink lightly or moderately.
However, it turned out that the premature death of non-drinkers is in no way related to the refusal of alcohol, but the real reasons are chronic diseases, smoking, drug use and others factors that initially negatively affected life expectancy.
