Scientists based on the results of studies have revealed the effect of salt on blood pressure, as well as excess weight. A team of specialists from the Beth Israel Deaconess Boston Medical Center warned about the dangers of sodium for hypertensive patients.
According to experts, people suffering from high blood pressure should not eat too much salty food. They disproved the theory that salt can speed up the process of losing weight. For this purpose, an experiment was conducted with the participation of 400 volunteers.
Part of the participants ate normally, while others followed a healthy diet, but with different sodium content.
It was possible to establish that due to the lack of salt in the daily menu, thirst and blood pressure can be reduced, and this does not affect weight gain. The doctors concluded that the rejection of sodium helps reduce the likelihood of hypertension, and this product is also useless when trying to lose weight.
The next step, according to scientists, should be to study the nutritional characteristics of patients with diabetes.
