Scientists have revealed the key cause of aging
2
Scientists from the United States have managed to identify the key cause of aging during their research. It turned out that the main genetic programs that contribute to longevity usually function no longer than middle age.
As part of their work, employees of the University of Miami studied gene activity in tissue samples from citizens of different ages. The main role in the rapid manifestation of a number of age-related diseases after reaching 60 years is played by the mTOR protein complex, and the production of reactive oxygen species in mitochondria is not the last factor.
According to the conclusions of scientists, the complexity of the system of regulation of aging programs in humans is many times higher than in a number of other species. This is due to the human genome, which ensured a long life in the process of evolution. However, the latter did not foresee that the lifespan would be more than 50-60 years. It is at this time that, for some reason, a number of molecular programs are “turned off.”
