Scientists have revealed which drugs increase the risk of suicide

Recent pharmacoepidemiological studies have shown that certain classes of psychotropic drugs can both reduce and increase the risk of suicidal behavior.
However, there is currently a paucity of studies examining the relationship between certain classes of psychotropic drugs and the risk of suicide attempt (SU) or death by suicide for patients who previously tried to end their lives by suicide.
In the framework of the new study, 972 people were studied. Observations lasted six months and 14 months.
Scientists found that during six months, sleeping pills and benzodiazepines did not show any increase in the risk of repeated suicide attempts.
However, longer use led to an increased risk. Scientists believe that doctors should take this information into account when prescribing treatment.
