You can get rid of excess weight if you eat foods with negative calories, this was proved by scientists from the USA in experiments with lizards. Next, experts simulated a similar process in relation to the human body, dispelling a popular myth.
Biologists from the University of Alabama conducted an experiment. Specialists set themselves the goal of determining whether the body really spends more calories on digesting plant food than it originally contained. Bearded Agamas were fed celery, and the daily dose was about 5% of the animals' body weight. Specialists determined the rate of metabolism, analyzed excrement and urine. A scientific experiment showed that lizards spend 33% of the calories they get with celery on digesting food. At the same time, no less than 43% of calories are excreted, another 24% remain in the body.
The researchers then simulated a similar process in the human body. Scientists have concluded that if you eat only foods with a negative calorie content, then 25% of energy is spent on their digestion. At least 19-50% of the calories obtained from this type of food are retained by the body.
