Scientists from the Department of Physiology at the University of Granada (UGR) showed that caffeine (about 3 mg/kg, equivalent to a cup of strong coffee) can increase the rate of fat burning, provided it is consumed 30 minutes before aerobic exercise.

Scientists also noted that when performing exercises in the afternoon, the effect will be higher than in the morning.
In total, 15 men were included in the study, who underwent a physical exercise test four times with a one-week break. Participants took 3 mg/kg of caffeine or a placebo at 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The study demonstrated that caffeine intake half an hour before aerobic exercise increased maximal fat oxidation. Dependence on the time of day was not observed. However, there were diurnal variations in fat oxidation, which increased during the day.
