Scientists have warned about the danger of a popular product

Food and drink play a big role in liver health. New studies have shown that eating red meat increases the risk of developing NAFLD.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is characterized by the accumulation of fat in this organ. The disease can be asymptomatic, but there is a risk of developing serious complications.

In a study, scientists from Harvard Medical School analyzed data on the health of approximately 78,000 women obtained over 20 years.

As a result, it was found that those who ate one serving or less of red meat per week were significantly less likely to encounter NAFLD.

At the same time, those who consumed such meat every day or several times a day, had the highest risk of developing the disease. Moreover, a similar effect was observed for both processed and unprocessed meat.
