Scientists named the main signs of the development of dementia

According to the Alzheimer's Association, one in nine adults over the age of 70 has dementia. Most people associate elementary forgetfulness with the symptoms of the condition. However, scientists warn that there are actually four main signs of the disease that you need to pay attention to.

Unusual forgetfulness

Memory loss is one of the warning symptoms. Although everyone can forget something important from time to time, scientists have found that with dementia, many forget to pay bills. According to a study conducted by Johns Hopkins University, people diagnosed with dementia often miss paying bills as early as six years before the clinical diagnosis.

Same Questions

According to the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine, a person with dementia may ask the same question several times a day, such as “what’s for dinner?” or “what time Do I have an appointment with a doctor?” If this happens periodically, you should undergo a medical examination.

Depression

According to a study conducted in Great Britain and published in the journal PLoS One, a link was found between depression and the development of dementia.

Loss of ability to perform a normal task

In another study, scientists mentioned the loss of ability to perform a normal task as a sign of Alzheimer's disease. The researchers clarified that it is about elementary things with which difficulties suddenly arise. As an example, they cited a patient who worked as an executive director at a bank, who was unable to help her granddaughter with a simple math problem.
