Scientists representing Osaka City University said , which seeds can protect against Parkinson's disease. According to experts, sesame seeds contain sesaminol, which can prevent damage to neurons in the human brain.
Sesame oil, which is used due to its nutty aroma and high smoke point, is obtained by extracting fatty oils from sesame seeds. . After that, the empty shells go to waste. But this “garbage” contains sesaminol, which helps protect against Parkinson's disease. Specialists have not yet created a preventive medicine for this disease.
Researchers found out the effect of the substance on the model of Parkinson's disease in vitro and in vivo. During in vitro cell studies, experts found that sesaminol can prevent neuronal damage and promote Nrf2 translocation. According to experts, this is a protein that participates in the reaction to oxidative stress, which reduces the formation of intracellular ROS.
Tests in vivo also showed good results. Movement disorders as a result of a serious disease are considered to be the result of the effect of damaged neurons on the production of dopamine. Experts found that mice with models of Parkinson's disease lack the formation of the hormone. After feeding subjects a diet with sesaminol for 36 days, its production accelerated, and an increase in motor activity became noticeable.
