Scientists talked about the benefits of cranberries for memory and preventing dementia

Cranberry has many useful properties and has a beneficial effect on human health. It can be included in the diet to improve memory and reduce the risk of developing dementia.

Conclusions about the benefits of cranberries were made by a team of British scientists representing the University of East Anglia. As part of their work, its authors analyzed the effect of a cup of this berry per day on people aged 50 to 80 years. The study is even associated with fears that the number of dementia cases will increase over the years.

There is still no cure for dementia, so it is now important to look for ways to reduce the risks of developing the disease and ease its course. Experts monitored the volunteers for 12 weeks, monitoring brain functions, cholesterol content in the blood.

A total of 60 people were involved in the study. One of them ate freeze-dried cranberry powder in an amount equivalent to 100 g of fresh product on a daily basis. Others were satisfied with a placebo.

It turned out that eating the berry improved memory, normalized the work of neurons, and blood flowed better to the brain. In addition, in the first group, indicators of bad cholesterol, which increases the risk of atherosclerosis, decreased.

Scientists note the importance of the study, as well as the fact that the positive effect was noticeable only after three months of cranberry consumption.
