Scientists talked about the connection between high cholesterol and genetics

High cholesterol increases the risk development of angina, hypertension, stroke and other diseases related to blood circulation. At the same time, sometimes the signs of this condition are practically not noticeable.
According to doctors, xanthomas – soft yellowish formations on the skin – can indicate a genetic predisposition to high cholesterol. They usually appear on the back of the heels or on the knuckles. Educations are small or grow up to seven centimeters. Some bumps join together and form large growths.
This skin condition occurs with familial hypercholesterolemia (FHC). It is an inherited disease characterized by high cholesterol and a risk of heart disease – sometimes even with a healthy lifestyle.
It is caused by a defective gene that affects how cells remove cholesterol from the blood. Normally, LDL receptors transport cholesterol from the liver to the cells and tissues of the body. People with CHD may lack these receptors, causing cholesterol to build up in the blood.
Other signs of this high cholesterol include swollen tendons in the toes or heel, and bulging, pale yellow spots around eyes and on the eyelids. In addition, this condition is indicated by a white border around the cornea of the eyes.
