Scientists warn: almost all “natural” skin care products contain allergens

According to a study by Stanford University School of Medicine, almost all “natural” skin care products contain allergens.
Almost 90% of the 1,651 personal care products studied, including lotions, soaps and moisturizers, contained at least one of the 100 most common allergens that cause contact dermatitis.
It is noted that contact dermatitis can be prevented if the long list is interpreted ingredients found in skin care products. However, a typical product can contain anywhere from 15 to 50 ingredients.
Studies show that people can apply over 500 different chemicals to their skin every day, depending on their skincare regimen. In other words, the more products you use, the more you expose your skin to potential allergens.
Many of the allergens identified in the study were fragrances, such as lavender and other plant extracts.
