Secrets of longevity: how to eat to extend your life by a third

Many scientists agree that increasing life expectancy requires a comprehensive approach. Nutrition principles play an important role in this. A study by American scientists has shown that reducing the caloric content of the diet and its specific distribution throughout the day contributes to longevity.

Researchers from the National Institutes of Aging and General Medical Sciences of the United States conducted a series of experiments with laboratory mice.

Rodents were divided into several groups, each of which was fed according to a certain scheme. At the same time, the scientists analyzed both the total daily caloric content of the mice's diet and the length of breaks between meals.

It was found that reducing daily caloric intake by 30% leads to a 10% increase in life expectancy. Observance of long intervals between meals one day and the next contributed to the extension of life by 35%. In this case, the duration of such intervals was at least 12 hours.

The authors of the study expressed the opinion that their findings open new perspectives for the further study of aging mechanisms.
