An aneurysm that is accessible to a person is dangerous because if it ruptures, it can cause death.
An aneurysm is an expansion, swelling, or stretching of a small part of a blood vessel (usually an artery) – it can be compared to an inflated balloon. The appearance of this pathology is due to an organic disease or damage, weakening of the vascular walls. An aneurysm can also be a site for the formation of a blood clot or even an embolism, experts from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center reported.
The appearance of an aneurysm is possible anywhere in the body, but most often it occurs in the brain or in the arteries leading to the heart, legs and arms. Over time, its size can increase, and at the same time the risk of its rupture increases, which leads to bleeding, which can cause shock and then death of a person.
What allows you to determine the existing aneurysm? According to statistics, most often people with a hereditary predisposition, as well as smokers, hypertensive patients, and owners of high cholesterol become its victims. Speaking about possible symptoms, doctors warn:
“Some aneurysms cause pain, dizziness, and shortness of breath with minimal effort, such as climbing stairs. But most do not cause any symptoms.”
Given the “silent” course of the pathology, experts emphasized: the key to successful treatment of aneurysms is early diagnosis, which can provide preventive examinations. In addition, it is necessary to consult doctors if unexplained pain occurs.
