Mental health professionals assess burnout as a type of occupational stress that causes a state of physical or emotional exhaustion.
Problems at work, stress, social pressure, anxiety, certain character traits, and an unsuccessful family life can all contribute to the emergence of a condition such as burnout. According to the signs that indicate its occurrence, the following conditions may be present.
Sleep disorders. Inability to sleep well or insomnia due to stress at work, family troubles, as well as the hours of night waking that a person spends on work, may indicate burnout.
Change in eating habits. If you eat less than usual or skip meals without realizing it, you are most likely experiencing stress.
Lack of energy. In a state of burnout, a person feels physically and mentally exhausted, even if they sleep well. Getting out of bed in the morning becomes especially difficult.
Poor concentration. It's normal to forget things or get confused sometimes, but if completing routine tasks starts to take longer or becomes increasingly difficult to do, it may be due to burnout.
Irritability. At first, burnout takes the form of some tension and irritability, but over time, the state of emotional negativity becomes stronger and more persistent. You may not even know what you're angry about, simply because you're in a constant state of irritation and dissatisfaction.
