Doctors from the UK have presented six key symptoms associated with type 2 diabetes that should not be ignored. On this list is a constant feeling of fatigue.
Early detection of the disease is important for treating type 2 diabetes and preventing serious health complications. The condition is caused by the body not responding properly to insulin and not producing enough of it.
At first, the symptoms may be barely noticeable, but there are six signs to look out for. These include frequent urination, constant thirst, unexplained weight loss, fatigue, and blurred vision.
In some cases, frequent urogenital infections, such as thrush and cystitis, signal the disease.
To minimize the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, you should follow a proper diet that includes fruits and vegetables, starchy foods such as bread, pasta, and rice, protein foods, including legumes, nuts, eggs, meat, and fish, milk, oils, and spreads.
Particular attention should be paid to physical activity, which should be at least 150 minutes per week. As for risk factors for developing type 2 diabetes, these include smoking, age over 40, and a family history of the disease.
Some mental health conditions also increase the likelihood of developing the disease, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression.
