A white coating has appeared on phloxes. This is a symptom of powdery mildew. It causes a disruption in photosynthesis. As a result, they stop active development and lose strength. The fungus gradually destroys the plant. But there is good news. Powdery mildew on phloxes can be cured.
Why does the disease occur on phloxes
Mildew appears due to a violation of growing conditions. If you properly care for your flowers and carry out disease prevention, it will not appear in your flower beds. Florists have named five main reasons why powdery mildew occurs:
- placing the flower bed in a shaded area;
- accumulation of plant debris under the flowers;
- thickening of flowers;
- excessive soil moisture;
- sharp changes in air temperature and humidity;
- hot weather +25-35 degrees.
Some factors cannot be influenced. For example, an increase in temperature. However, it is necessary to monitor the humidity after watering, remove plant residues under the bushes (leaves, flowers), and thin out the plantings. With proper care, there will be no problems with powdery mildew.
