It's never too late to change, especially since radical changes in lifestyle are not needed. Doctors suggest following simple habits that can make us all healthier.
Try to take the stairs more often.People who live not very high up are better off walking to their apartments rather than taking the elevator. The same rule applies to shopping malls and establishments with escalators and elevators. Walking up the stairs is very beneficial for the heart and blood vessels – it acts on them as a strengthening workout.
Eat a tomato for lunch.Nutritionists advise to carefully monitor the side dishes for lunch, not to get carried away with mashed potatoes, pasta and rice (especially in sedentary professions). But many people find it difficult to give up their usual food. Try to make it a rule to eat an additional portion of vitamins for lunch and eat at least one vegetable. American scientists from Tufts University in Boston have found that by including tomatoes in your diet, you can reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases by 26%.
Salt and sugar less than usual. Think about how much less salt and sugar you will start eating in total if you gradually cut down on the doses you usually use every day.
Do not touch your face.Another habit that improves your health without requiring any expenses. Viruses and bacteria are constantly “running” from your hands. Stop touching your face, and you will start to get sick less.
Put away your gadgets. Also try to stop using gadgets right before bed. Your phone makes you sleepy by over-activating your brain, even if you are lying in bed in a relaxed position. The blue light from the screen suppresses the production of melatonin, the sleep hormone. People who read their smartphones before going to bed have their sleep phases shifted, and as a result, they don’t get enough sleep.
Relax. Stress builds up in your body. If you don’t get rid of it every day, one day it can “explode.” Do yoga or meditate for 10-20 minutes. If you don’t know how, just sit in a quiet place and breathe deeply. Take a breath in for a count of four, hold your breath, and exhale slowly. Do this several times, focusing on your breathing. You won't notice how your mind will briefly disconnect from your problems.
