Every pot is different, so not every one will be suitable for your plants. You need to remember this when you want to buy one that caught your eye because of its beautiful color, shape, or design. Florists told what pots you should not use so as not to kill the plants.
Do not plant your plants in these pots
Florists do not recommend using the following:
- tall;
- with a tray;
- barrel-shaped;
- glazed on one side;
- metal;
- concrete.
First of all, concrete pots are surprising. After all, they are not used in home floriculture. They are more relevant for the terrace, garden. Please note that concrete pots quickly absorb water.
Pots that are too high will also not do the plant any good, as there will be a risk of root rot. The soil in such a container will not dry out to the very bottom. This situation will also occur with barrel-shaped pot models.
A tray attached to the bottom will be inconvenient, because water will remain in it. It will cause waterlogging.
Pots glazed on only one side have mostly one drainage hole. Accordingly, moist soil will stagnate in it.
Metal pots cannot provide plants with stable growing conditions. Metal reacts quickly and strongly to heating and cooling. This leads to strong temperature fluctuations, which will negatively affect the plant.
