The general condition of a person's body is influenced by many factors, including his lifestyle and diet. Vitamins also play a big role – a deficiency of one of them can lead to daytime sleepiness.
A study by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine suggests that there is a significant connection between excessive daytime sleepiness and vitamin D. during the study, experts interviewed patients during routine consultation visits over a two-year period.
They filled out a questionnaire asking them about various symptoms potentially related to sleep disturbances, including moderate to severe musculoskeletal pain, which contributes to sleep disturbances, as well as daytime discomfort.
The results showed that there is indeed a connection between drowsiness and vitamin D. It was observed in many study participants, but to a greater extent in African Americans.
Another study, published on the website of the US National Library of Medicine, also found a link between vitamin D deficiency and sleepiness. The two-year study involved 1,500 people with signs of sleep disorders, as well as with neurological diseases.
It is noted that the majority of patients experienced an improvement in neurological symptoms and improved sleep due to maintaining a certain level of vitamin D in the blood. . “We propose the hypothesis that sleep disorders have become an epidemic due to widespread vitamin D deficiency,” the scientists concluded.
