Specialists explained what not to do before a visit to the dentist

Before going to the dentist for the procedure, it is important to prepare. Brushing your teeth, getting a good night's sleep, and eating high-protein foods to keep you feeling fuller for longer are great ideas.

However, one careless action can undo all your efforts. It's about eating lots of foods rich in vitamin C the day before or the day of a dental procedure.

As Anjali Rajpal, MD, a dentist explains, this can affect the effectiveness of local anesthesia. However, a small amount of foods rich in vitamin C should not reduce the effect. This applies not only to vitamin-rich products, but also to appropriate food supplements.

According to research, vitamin C affects the pH level in the body, which in turn negatively affects the effect of local anesthesia. Experts recommend avoiding vitamin C supplements at least 48 hours before your dental visit.
