A gastroenterologist named the symptoms that require a doctor's visit.
A specialist from the European Health Center said that many of her patients come to her with advanced diseases. The gastroenterologist named six stomach problems that cannot be ignored.
Symptom No. 1. Chronic pain
If you regularly have stomach pain, diarrhea or constipation, bloating, and feel full even after eating a small amount of food, this can be a symptom of diseases such as irritable bowel syndrome, lactose intolerance, gastroparesis (the activity of the stomach muscles decreases, which causes improper exit of digested food).
Symptom #2. Pain + nausea or vomiting
According to the specialist, vomiting in a person can occur for various reasons. The most harmful is food poisoning. But, unfortunately, frequent vomiting can also indicate more serious problems with the gastrointestinal system – stomach cancer, peptic ulcer, stenosis. In addition, vomiting and nausea can also occur with kidney stones, liver and heart problems.
– If nausea and vomiting do not go away within a day, it is important to consult a doctor, – explains the gastroenterologist.
Symptom # 3. Pain and heaviness + blood in the stool
The doctor notes that any bleeding is serious! Blood in the stool can indicate such ailments as colitis, diverticulosis, ulcers, hemorrhoids.
Symptom #4. Acute and sudden pain
This symptom may indicate kidney stones or gall bladder, appendicitis, pancreatitis, bile duct blockage, ulcers and cancer. You need to go to the emergency room immediately.
Symptom #5. Pain + weight loss
The gastroenterologist notes that many of her patients often ignore such a symptom as rapid weight loss. Usually, people are happy that they are finally parting with extra pounds, while ignoring discomfort or pain in the abdomen. However, the doctor explains that weight loss is a serious symptom. It is observed in such serious diseases as Crohn's syndrome (inflammation of all parts of the gastrointestinal tract from the mouth to the rectum), cancer.
Symptom #6. Pain + Fever
Toxins or infection can cause fever. In addition, the patient may experience vomiting and diarrhea. It is better not to self-medicate and seek urgent medical attention.
