Study: Loneliness or unhappiness accelerates aging
0
Chinese researchers analyzed data from people aged 45 and over and found that psychological factors such as loneliness or feelings of unhappiness increase a person's biological age by 1.65 years.
To determine the level of aging, scientists used a combination of 16 blood biomarkers, seven biometric parameters, and a person's biological sex.
Based on this, they trained a neural network that predicts biological age. In particular, the data included blood pressure, body mass index, etc.
The data obtained show that “mental health is an integral part of longevity,” the researchers say.
“If you don’t take care of your psychological comfort, you shorten your life expectancy as much, if not more, than if you started smoking.”
