Sudden weight loss can occur with diabetes

Endocrine diseases can cause a person to lose weight dramatically, the doctor said.
According to the doctor, sudden weight loss is one of the symptoms of type 1 diabetes, which can affect both children and adults. The doctor noted that weight loss in this case is provoked by a significant loss of fluid and with it nutrients.
“A person begins to drink a lot of fluid, but this does not compensate for the loss and a sharp decrease in body weight occurs,” the doctor explained.
Also, the endocrinologist warned that thyrotoxicosis, a condition that occurs due to an excess of thyroid hormones, can contribute to sharp weight loss. In addition to weight loss, sleep disturbances, frequent tremors, periodic feelings of heat, pain in one’s own eyes, and rapid heartbeat may be observed.
In addition, noticeable and unspecific weight loss may indicate adrenal insufficiency. With this disorder, weakness and hypotension are often felt, and diffuse pigmentation appears on the skin.
