Swedish doctors called the method of brewing coffee dangerous for the heart and blood vessels

Swedish doctors analyzed the data of a massive study of heart diseases. It affected more than 500,000 residents of neighboring Norway between the ages of 20 and 79. For twenty years, they regularly answered questions about their health and habits.

Over the years of the study, about 12,000 participants died of heart disease. Senior Professor of the Faculty of Public Health and Medicine at the University of Gothenburg, Dag Telle, found that one of the risk factors may be the way coffee is brewed.

Scientists concluded that regular consumption of unfiltered coffee increased the risk of premature aging by 15%. deaths from cardiovascular diseases. “The fact that those who drank the filtered beverage felt slightly better than those who did not drink coffee at all cannot be explained by any other variables such as age, gender or lifestyle. So we consider this observation to be correct,” explained Telle.

The reason for this difference is the increased level of cafestol and kahweol – chemicals that do not pass through the filters of coffee machines, but get into the cup when coffee is brewed -Greek, Turkish or when brewed in a French press. Researchers note that these substances can increase the level of triglycerides and “bad” cholesterol in the blood, which ultimately increases the likelihood of problems with the cardiovascular system.
