Symptom of type 2 diabetes: named one of the early signs of the disease

Persistently high blood sugar levels can lead to circulatory, nervous and immune system disorders. Although the symptoms of type 2 diabetes often develop gradually, there is one sign that is difficult to ignore – polydipsia.

This condition is characterized by intense, insatiable thirst, and is considered one of the earliest symptoms of diabetes. It is often accompanied by an unusual dry mouth. In this case, you may also experience:

  • irritation in the corners of the mouth;
  • gingivitis;
  • oral thrush.

As explained by the Mayo Clinic, the main risk factors for developing diabetes include being overweight, having an inactive lifestyle, age, and blood lipid levels.

Doctors have warned that the disease causes various complications, including nerve damage, eye damage, and kidney disease. Other symptoms of the disease include:

  • feeling hungry;
  • unintentional weight loss;
  • constant fatigue;
  • blurred vision;
  • slow-healing ulcers;
  • frequent infections;
  • numbness or tingling in the hands or feet.

A healthy lifestyle can prevent the development of diabetes. In particular, experts advise including foods with a low fat and high fiber content in the diet, losing excess weight and starting to lead an active lifestyle.
