Symptoms of atrial fibrillation

Hearing the term “arrhythmia”, most people describe it as a rapid heartbeat. In fact, there are a large number of varieties of this condition in medicine. An accelerated pulse after jogging or brisk walking is a normal phenomenon, but a violation of the heart rhythm due to atrial fibrillation can be fatal.
Medics call this condition atrial fibrillation. It leads to the development of heart attacks and strokes and is one of the most common diseases of the cardiovascular system.
Atrial fibrillation is provoked by hypertension, angina pectoris, heart failure, inflammatory processes in the heart, as well as previous heart surgery and heart valve defects. Secondary diseases, such as thyroid problems, and even stress can also cause this condition.
Among the main symptoms are:
- rapid heart rate
- a feeling of the heart “jumping” out of the chest
- shortness of breath
- dizziness
- weakness.
Some patients also complain of heaviness in the chest, sleep problems, constant weakness, and psychosocial disorders.
Doctors recommend visiting a cardiologist or therapist if these or other disturbing symptoms related to the work of the cardiovascular system bother you too often. However, pain in the sternum is not always due to heart problems.
