The birth of a son has a greater impact on the intelligence of his parents

Son's upbringing is a more intellectually demanding occupation than raising a daughter. What conclusion did researchers from the Czech Republic and the USA come to?

After studying more than 13,000 parents aged 50 and older, American and Czech scientists came to an interesting conclusion. Dads and moms who have sons have brains that age more quickly than those who raise daughters.

Having even one son already accelerated the loss of cognitive skills compared to those who had no children. And if dad and mom had two or more sons, they faced a significantly greater decline in intelligence compared to fathers of daughters.

The study was observational, scientists only discovered a connection, but did not establish its cause. However, there are speculations as to why raising sons has this effect.

First, daughters are more likely to care for their parents in old age and provide them with all kinds of support, including emotional support. It helps moms and dads stay healthy as they age.

Secondly, parents of boys generally lead me to a healthy lifestyle. For example, the body mass index of mothers of sons, on average, is always higher than that of those who raise daughters.

In addition, fathers of daughters are less likely to use any prohibited substances, alcohol and are attracted to tobacco products. .
