The birth rate of twins has increased in the world: the reason is named

In the world, since 1980, the birth rate has increased by a third twins According to research data, about 1.6 million twins were born every year in the world, where every 42nd child born was a twin.
As scientists from the British University of Oxford explained, the reason for everything was the increase in the availability of reproductive medicine.< /p>
Experts explained that science has made great strides in IVF (in vitro fertilization) methods, and has also advanced ovarian stimulation and artificial insemination. The researchers also noted that women began to give birth later, which increases the chances of having twins.
“Our results are very important, because the birth of twins is associated with a higher mortality rate, both among infants and among mothers,” said Professor Christian Mond.
The authors of the study recorded an increase in the birth rate of twins in many European countries, North America and Asia. At the same time, most of the increase in the number of twins was due to dizygotic twins (children from two different eggs), while the frequency of monozygotic twins (from the same egg) has practically not changed and remains stable (4 cases per thousand pregnancies worldwide).
