The boy who was kidnapped from the playground found his family after 73 years

A mysterious abduction that happened on February 2, 1951 was solved in the USA. Then the 6-year-old boy was kidnapped from the park by unknown persons, he met his family only 73 years later.

Luis Albino was just 6 years old when he was taken from a playground in Oakland's Jefferson Park on Feb. 2, 1951, by an unknown woman who took him out of state and then to the East Coast, police said in a statement.

Immediately Albino's search was fruitless, and the case was forgotten for seven decades.

But earlier this year, Albino's niece contacted Oakland police again and told officers “that the results of her online DNA test matched a person believed to be her uncle.”

FBI agents, on assignment Oakland police, interviewed Albino at his East Coast home and took a DNA sample. His genetic material matched that of two living siblings in California, proving he is the boy who was abducted in 1951, police said.

The FBI, California Department of Justice and Oakland police organized and paid for Albino's meeting with his long-lost family on June 24.

“It was an emotional moment for all parties involved and a family reunion of more than 70 years,” police said.

A statement from Oakland police did not specify who detectives believe took The albino is from the park seven decades ago and has not been identified as to who raised him.

92-year-old Albino mother died in 2005 without ever knowing about his son's fate.

This summer, Albino was able to meet and spend time with his brother Roger, who was with him at the park on the day of the abduction in 1951. Roger died last month.

“I think he died happily. He was at peace with himself, knowing that his brother had been found. I was so happy that I was able to do this for him and bring him closure and peace,” said Alida Alekin, the abducted man's niece.
