According to a new study by scientists from the University of Western Australia (UWA) and the University of Virginia, an anxious brain can be retrained to respond more easily to everyday situations.
A study reports a free online program that has been tested to successfully reduce anxiety.
The program is based on research that which show that anxious people tend to interpret future situations in a threatening manner, and that changing this interpretive style can reduce anxiety.
Dr Julie Gee from UWA's School of Psychological Sciences notes “the study found that six sessions of computerized online intervention program successfully changes the reaction pattern of people with anxiety. Over time, this reduces anxiety.”
