Bad cholesterol is dangerous because it participates in the formation of atherosclerotic plaques, its high level increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases. The first thing to pay attention to for those who want to lower the level of bad cholesterol is fatty meat in the diet. These are pork, lamb and fatty types of beef. Their consumption should be completely eliminated or at least reduced. All kinds of canned meat, sausages, smoked meats and offal – liver, kidneys, brains – are prohibited. The cardiologist does not recommend giving up meat altogether. The above can be replaced with poultry, rabbit or low-fat varieties of beef or veal.
The doctor also advises to review the consumption of dairy products in favor of less fatty ones. For example, you should buy sour cream with a maximum of 15% fat, milk – 2.6%, cheese – no more than 5%. Yellow cheeses, which belong to fatty varieties, the cardiologist advises to eat in very small quantities, and it is better to exclude them altogether. They should prefer low-fat varieties, up to 20% fat. These include, for example, mozzarella. True, they should not be abused either – you can afford 50-100 grams of such cheese no more than twice a week, the specialist recommends.
The cardiologist reminded that many harmful saturated fats are contained in egg yolks, mayonnaise and cream oils She also recommends limiting these puffs.
