The connection between longevity and physical activity was established by doctors

According to the estimates of the World Health Organization (WHO), cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of premature death worldwide. They take about 18 million lives every year. Coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, rheumatic heart disease and other conditions are dangerous.
Doctors have known for a long time that it is possible to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases and achieve longevity with the help of regular physical exercises. A new study by the University of Oxford established a link between the intensity of physical education and sports and the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
For 5 years, the researchers recorded data on the physical activity of more than 50,000 experiment participants using sensors worn on the wrist. They found that physical activity is not only associated with a lower risk of developing cardiovascular disease, but the greatest benefit is seen in those who lead an active lifestyle at the highest level.
It turned out that the higher physical activity, the lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Scientists have not found a threshold at which the effects of physical exercise would cease to improve the health of the cardiovascular system. In subjects with maximum physical activity, the risk of cardiovascular diseases decreased by 63%.
In the study, scientists adjusted for commitment to a healthy lifestyle, the absence or presence of bad habits and other factors. Even after all adjustments, the relationship between the level of physical activity and the risk of cardiovascular diseases was pronounced. At the same time, the beneficial effect of sports was higher for women. “Our results lend additional weight to the new WHO physical activity guidelines, which recommend at least 150-300 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity per week for all adults,” Oxford Associate Professor Aiden Doherty concluded.
