According to People's Deputy Valentin Nalyvaichenko, the Military Investigation Bureau will not replace the military prosecutor's office, but it will be a body with a more serious status, which will have more powers in the part that concerns the military.
The People's Deputies of Ukraine plan to create a Military Bureau of Investigation, which will take care of the investigation of war crimes. This was announced on Ranok.LIVE by the secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the European Union, People's Deputy Valentyn Nalyvaichenko.
“The parliament voted and we will create military justice in Ukraine. In order for our defenders to have their own body for investigations and bringing to justice, regardless of the position and level of any member of the military, who neglects the lives of soldiers, disobeys the orders of commanders, discredits the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Nalivaichenko said.
He explained that the term “military justice” refers to several bodies, in particular the military service for law and order, the creation of the military police, as well as the Military Bureau of Investigation.
“Any complaints of commanders, subordinates should be in the competence of our military command,” Nalyvaichenko emphasized.
The People's Deputy specified that the Military Investigation Bureau is not a substitute for the military prosecutor's office.
“This is a body with a more serious status, which will have more powers in the part that concerns the military,” Nalivaichenko noted.
What functions will the Military Bureau of Investigation perform
According to Nalivaichenko, the Military Bureau investigations will perform the following functions:
- investigation;
- prosecution;
- forwarding of information to the court.
The elected representative also stated that Ukrainian counterintelligence should be subordinated to the Ministry of Defense.
“The security service must hand over the best specialists so that there are no “moles” and agents of enemy special services inside the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff,” Nalyvaichenko emphasized. due to recent scandals involving the TCC and SP, the Verkhovna Rada is considering making them a civilian structure.
On the same day, Fedir Venislavskyi, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence, said that currently conscripts The arrested citizens of Ukraine will not be served with electronic subpoenas, and the government and military leadership are not even considering such a possibility.
