The court fined a teacher from the Lviv Region who got drunk at the First Bell

Zhovkiv district court found a school teacher in Lviv region guilty of drunk driving. The teacher confirmed that he had indeed drunk vodka with a colleague after the ceremonial lineup for the First Bell holiday, but denied that he was driving.

Despite this, the court decided to fine the violator. This is stated in the resolution published on October 25 in the Unified State Register.

According to the case materials, Yaroslav P., a school teacher in the village of Artasiv of the Kulikiv community, drove a Toyota Avensis drunk on September 2 in the village of Zashkiv. The law enforcement officers established that the driver had 2.14 ppm of alcohol in his blood, which is almost 11 times higher than the norm.

“It was the day of the first call. After the solemn event, he and other teachers and students went to the graves of fallen soldiers who were students of the school where he works. Later, he and another teacher broke a bottle of vodka near the school. After that, the school principal came and said that PERSON_3 would take him home in a car, as he was already drunk,” the teacher said at the court hearing.

According to Yaroslav P., he was only a passenger in the car, and the school principal was driving. The director apparently got out of the car at the gas station, after which police officers approached the defendant and drew up a report. Despite the testimony of Yaroslav P., the evidence of his guilt was found on video recordings, where he told the patrolmen several times that he was driving the car.

The judge found Yaroslav P. guilty and imposed a penalty of UAH 17,000 fine with revocation of driver's license per year Also, the violator must pay a court fee of UAH 606. The ruling can be challenged by filing an appeal.
