Whitney Linsenmeyer, MD, spokeswoman for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and associate professor of nutrition at St. Louis University, identified two non-obvious health problems that can arise from overuse of ginger.
She explained that fresh ginger may cause mouth and throat irritation if consumed in excess.
This product contains active compounds that give it a sharp and spicy taste. But their excess can cause unpleasant and even painful sensations of the mucous membranes. This most often happens to those who try the product for the first time.
The health nutrition expert also noted that biologically active supplements with ginger extract, if the dosage is not followed, can cause such disorders of the gastrointestinal tract as spasms, bloating and increased gas formation. Therefore, the nutritionist recommends using them in moderate quantities.
