The doctor called apples an ideal product for lowering cholesterol

Eating apples supports the heart, intestines and even the waist is in good shape, states the well-known British physician, nutrition expert Dr. Michael Mosley.

Elevated cholesterol is often called the “silent killer”: it can subtly damage arteries, increasing the risk of heart disease and stroke. Dr. Michael Mosley reported that apples are very useful in the fight against high cholesterol – the habit of regularly eating them can reduce the content of “bad” LDL cholesterol by 23 percent.

Dr Catherine Bondonno, a research fellow at the Nutrition Research Institute at Edith Cowan University in Western Australia, supported the doctor's opinion that apples are an ideal food for lowering cholesterol. The expert emphasized that the beneficial properties of apples are largely determined by the fact that they are eaten with the skin.

“Apple skin contains plant compounds flavonoids, which are produced by plants to protect against stress and sunlight. Flavonoids can bring incredible benefits to the heart, while not losing their power when, for example, you bake apples in the oven,” said Catherine Bondonno.

In addition, apples are effective for improving blood vessels in dried form. A Florida State University study found that people who ate about 75 grams of dried apples a day were able to lower their “bad cholesterol” by more than 20 percent.

Also, Dr. Mosley reported on a study involving 160 middle-aged women, which demonstrated the ability of apples to accelerate weight loss.

“By eating one or two apples, you will be able to “fear away” many diseases, because such a habit helps to keep your heart, intestines and even in good shape waist,” the doctor summarized.
