The doctor named the best products for improving the liver
With age, the liver increasingly needs to restore the level of glutathione, and the best products for its improvement are products that help in this. Turkish doctor Onur Yaprak listed such products.
According to the doctor, the liver performs many functions every day, including the breakdown of nutrients entering the body, the metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates and fats, and the removal of potentially toxic components. But bad habits, including unhealthy food, alcohol consumption, inactivity, excess weight eventually lead to liver damage and diseases.
A liver that contains enough glutathione can more easily cope with the effects of harmful factors, but its reserves in it decrease over time due to aging and nutrient deficiency, the specialist claims. The doctor states that a certain food can fill the content of a substance important for the health of the liver.
“Glutathione is an irreplaceable amino acid produced in the liver and ensures its ability to detoxify. We can maintain a high level of glutathione reserves in our body with the help of products containing cysteine, sulfur, selenium and vitamin C,” said Dr. Onur Yaprak.
The doctor advised to include the following sources of these useful substances in the diet.
- Sulphur: red meat, fish, chicken, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, garlic, onion.
- Vitamin C: strawberries, citrus fruits, kiwi , bell pepper.
- Selenium: fish, Brazil nuts, tuna, sardines, salmon, eggs, cheese, liver, sunflower seeds, brown rice, wheat, onions, garlic, mushrooms.
“The biggest help we can give our liver is to avoid unhealthy foods and drinks. If you abandon the harmful eating style and switch to the Mediterranean diet, it will significantly reduce the detox load on the liver,” the doctor summarized.
