The doctor talked about the hidden harm of potatoes

Potatoes have long been a traditional dish for Ukraine. It can be prepared quickly and easily, and there are many recipes with this root vegetable. In addition, potatoes are very filling and have a number of useful properties. However, for some, this product can be harmful and even dangerous, said Edena Gubkina, an endocrinologist with the highest qualification category.
It contains potassium and sodium, which are necessary for the normal functioning of cells, as well as vitamins B6 and C, which are involved in immune processes.
At the same time, potatoes are not recommended to be eaten by people with diabetes, obesity and gastritis with increased acidity. In these cases, it is not necessary to completely give up potatoes – it is enough to limit their use in the total daily diet to 10%, Gubkina said in an interview with “Arguments and Facts”.
Also, the expert noted that the most useful eat boiled or steamed potatoes. First, it should be cleaned from the skin, as it accumulates harmful substances from the soil and air.
But it is better to completely refuse deep-fried potatoes, because they contain a lot of fats and toxic substances.
In order to reduce to zero the risk of developing side effects from eating potatoes, you need to follow several rules. For example, you should not cook green root vegetables, because they contain the toxic substance solanine, which destroys cells.
Another rule is to avoid too high a cooking temperature. Also, if possible, it is better to know the conditions for growing potatoes.
